The baby shower invitations should be mailed out about 3-4 weeks before the shower date. This gives the person enough time to find the perfect present for the baby.
You can purchase the Baby shower invitations at the card store or online. If you are creative you can make one on the computer. You can use Microsoft Publisher or Word to design one. Microsoft has templates online that you can customize for your own special baby shower. If you make them on the computer, also consider creating Thank You Cards for the baby shower at the same time to keep the theme the same. This was when the Parents-to-be send out the Thank You cards they are coordinated.
Inside the Invitations you can photocopy a picture of the sonogram if you have one, this is always a nice touch. If the Parents- to-be are registed at local stores, you can add that list in the invitation.
Some baby shower invitations also include to bring something special with the gift. Such as diapers, or a can of formula. I have seen baby shower invitations done like this. Personally I don't like this, but if you want to do it you can.
